On 16 October 2018 the event, celebrating the Centenary of the Taurida National University named after V.I. Vernadsky was held at the Kyiv City State Administration. The celebration was attended by the Head of Mejlis of Crimean Tatar People Refat Chubarov, Deputy Head of Mejlis Ilmi Umerov, People’s Deputy Sergiy Kunitsyn, the Chief of Council of Rectors of High Educational Institutions, Replaced from the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Donetsk, Lugansk Regions and the ARC, Victor Beschastnyi, representatives of international organizations and central govwrnment executive authorities, scientists, students and the public.
In his greeting speech on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the University, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed his deep gratitude to the University, for the courage and conscious choice, made by the lecturers and students in favor of patriotism and confrontation of Russian aggression. The Head of the State was convinced that the commitment of the University to the Motherland would guarantee our Victory and soon the Blue-Yellow Flags would fly over liberated Ukrainian Crimea.
The Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in Autonomous Republic of Crimea Borys Babin congratulated the University staff and the participants with the Centennial anniversary and together with the other dignitaries wished the next anniversary would be marked in Simferopol. The Permanent Representative awarded the staff representatives of the University with the Diplomas of the Mission.
