On 28th of September, 2018 the First Deputy of the Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in ARC Izet Gdanov took part in the meeting of Verkhovna Rada Committee on Human Rights, National Minorities and Interethnic Relations to prepare to Committee Hearings “Improvement of the State’s Policy on Implementation of Sanctions Against the Persons, involved into the Illegal Politically Motivated Persecution of Citizens of Ukraine”.
The participants of the meeting were the People’s Deputy of Ukraine Refat Chubarov, the members of the Committee Secretariat, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, of the Prosecutor’s Office of Ukraine, of the Ministry of Temporarily Occupied Territories and IDPs of Ukraine, of the Security Service of Ukraine, of the civil organizations and human rights defenders.
The materials, prepared by Human Rights Media Initiative on implementation of sanctions against the persons, involved into the illegal politically motivated persecution of citizens of Ukraine were observed at the meeting. The duty for development the criteria for the persons to be included into the sanctions list and criminalization of violations of adopted sanctions regime was discussed.
The First Deputy Izet Gdanov pointed out the need to empower the competent bodies to implement sanctions. He proposed to include the Mission of the President of Ukraine in ARC into the current list of such authorized bodies. He noted on the need for imposition of sanctions against the citizens of Ukraine and Ukrainian economic entities, which provide illegal economic activity in the TOT of Ukraine in Crimea. As the result of Working Group meeting, the necessity for further cooperation on the amendments elaboration to the existing Law of Ukraine “On Sanctions” was considered.
