During an official visit to Germany, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel discussed ways to release Ukrainian sailors and other Ukrainians in Russian captivity.
“We have discussed an acute issue of the release of our military sailors and other Ukrainians in Russian prisons. On 18 June 2019 a round table discussion on theme “Public administration in special conditions: organizational and legal instruments of military and civil administrations”, was held in the Institute of Legislation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine with the support of the Representation of the Hans Zaidel Foundation in Ukraine. The participants of the round table were the People’s Deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the representatives of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, Ministry of TOT and IDPs, Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, Security Service of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs, experts and scientists “Public administration in special conditions”
On 18 June 2019 the officials of the Mission’s Kyiv Office attended the «Tamirlar» (Roots) presentation, launched by the SE “Crimean House” in Ukrinform. The project is aimed on search, collection and video documentation of personal histories about the Crimean Tartars deportation to be told by the people, survived this terrible tragedy and sharing these materials on a separate site “Evidence collection campaign on deportation of Crimean Tartar People”
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasizes that the establishment of peace in Ukraine is one of the key tasks he is striving for. That is why the issue of peace was the main one in his current constructive negotiations with French President Emmanuel Macron.
“First of all, it was about returning peace to Ukraine. This is my priority. This is my position – both as a man and as President. The Russian Federation has to comply with the decision of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea of May 25 and release 24 Ukrainian sailors and ships captured near the Kerch Strait.
It was stated by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the joint press conference with President of France Emmanuel Macron in Paris on June 17.
“Russia must also comply with the decision of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea and return 24 Ukrainian sailors. I really believe in that.
