18th of May is 75th anniversary of deportation of Crimean Tatar People, marked in Ukraine

The deportation of Crimean Tatars from Crimea in 1944 was recognized as genocide against the Crimean Tatar People by the Resolution of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, dated on 11 May 2015 № 792-VIII “On recognition of genocide against the Crimean Tatar People” and May 18 is proclaimed  as the Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Genocide against the Crimean Tatar People.

Unfortunately, as it turned out, widespread entertainments are going to be held in many cities of Ukraine.

The Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea urges the authorities of the regional state administrations and cities’ leadership to postpone all entertainments, scheduled on this day to a later dates. We consider all recreational activities undertaken in Memorial Days in Ukraine are unacceptable.

Today, Crimean Tartar People continues its struggle for independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine in Crimea, despite the targeted repressions by the occupying authorities of the peninsular.
